Almost everything on a venue calendar falls into one of these. Knowing which you are looking at tells you how far ahead to book and what it will involve.
Gala evenings
Dinner, dress code and open tables for a set period. Ticketed rather than buy-in, and the most likely to sell out through a ticketing service.
Roulette championships
Short-format competitions run over a single evening. Easy to join late; the rules are explained at the table before each round.
Blackjack tournaments
Weekly or monthly, usually in a side room off the main floor. The most beginner-friendly competitive format on any calendar.
Slot nights
Themed evenings around new machine releases, with prize draws attached. No booking needed as a rule — walk-in on the night.
Private & premium
Function rooms, host service and reserved tables for groups. Arranged directly with the venue's events team rather than sold as tickets.

Do you sell tickets?
No. We are an information site. Every booking happens with the venue or with a ticketing service, and payment never passes through us.
Why only four venues?
Because that is how many casino venues are licensed in New Zealand. Anything advertising itself as a fifth is not licensed to operate here, and we will not list it.
How far ahead should I book?
Poker series flights and gala evenings: weeks. Blackjack and roulette competitions: days. Slot nights: walk in. Queenstown in ski season is the exception — treat everything there as weeks ahead.
Is there a dress code?
Smart casual covers almost everything; gala evenings usually ask for formal. Each venue publishes its own rules, and they do enforce them at the door.
What age do I need to be?
Twenty years or over to enter a New Zealand casino floor. That is the venue's licence condition, not our rule, and photo ID is checked.
